Elkton Volunteer Fire Company
The Elkton Volunteer Fire Company was organized in 1927 to provide fire protection to the town of Elkton and the surrounding community. Since then, the company has grown considerably. From its humble beginnings with just one Model T Ford automobile and soda extinguishers, to today's fleet of 10 units, the goal of the organization has always remained the same; "to save life and property."
The fire company’s primary coverage area includes the Town of Elkton and the surrounding area. The northern border is the Rockingham and Page county line. The 3500 block of South Eastside Highway (US Route 340) marks the southern border. Going west, coverage extends up to the intersection of Spotswood Trail (US Route 33) and East Point Road (State Route 602). The eastern border provides coverage to the Rockingham and Greene County line on Spotswood Trail, including Skyline Drive from the Loft Mountain Overlook to Big Meadows.
Elkton Emergency Squad
The Elkton Emergency Squad is a volunteer emergency medical services agency that serves the Town of Elkton and the surrounding area of Rockingham County. From 6 AM to 6 PM Monday through Friday, the squad is staffed by personnel from the Rockingham County Department of Fire and Rescue. All other times are served by dedicated volunteers. As one of the busiest rescue squads in Rockingham County, EES diligently and promptly provides emergency medical care to those in need in our area.
